WALKING TOUR in the Gràcia district of Barcelona and lunch at a Catalan restaurant

May 27th, 2012

Accompany me on a 60-minute walking tour through the streets and squares of the Gràcia district, one of the most charming areas of Barcelona, followed by lunch at a lovely old Catalan restaurant. I’ll point out a few of the photo opportunities and details so often missed, such as:

Groups for the tour:  6 persons maximum (adults only).

Date: By appointment

Time: from 12 noon to 3 pm

Language: English

Meeting point: Your hotel

We’ll see the following squares:

PLAÇA VILA DE GRACIA (GRACIA TOWN HALL) – with the very tall clock tower by architect Antoni Rovira i Trias and the light blue modernist-style town hall.

PLAÇA DEL DIAMANTE – made famous by Mercè Rodoreda’s 1962 novel of the same name (called The Time of the Doves in English).

PLACA VIRREINA – a great place to sit for a drink after lunch on a warm and sunny afternoon (if you can find a seat!)

PLAÇA REVOLUCION DE SEPTIEMBRE 1868 – celebrating the dethronement of Isabel II and the start of the “6 years of democracy” (1868-1874) before the Bourbons came to power again in 1874

PLAÇA DEL SOL – with the “ASTROLABI” sundial by Joaquim Camps showing the 12 signs of the zodiac.

From there, it’s a two minute walk to the restaurant where you may like:

A welcome glass of cava (or other drink if preferred). Then:

- learn how to make your own “pan con tomate” (Catalan-style bread with tomato)

- share a selection of starters followed by a main course, sweet and coffee with a glass or two of wine.

Over lunch: Q & A with Catherine, who will be able to advise you on places to go and not to go, what to see, where to eat, what to photograph…and offer any assistance you may need

Souvenir: Gift presentation of 5 items (3 greetings cards and 2 notebooks) from the Streets of Barcelona image collection to each participant.

Delivery to your hotel in time for a siesta…

Price per person 50 Euros (includes lunch)

To reserve your place, please send an e-mail to ch[at]streets-of-barcelona.com

I look forward to meeting you!
